Principal's Corner
Dear Parents and Students,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students, parents, and staff back to school for the 2012-2013 school year! It is truly a privilege to serve as the principal of Sweetwater Branch Academy, the home of the Jaguars! I have previously served as a mathematics teacher and assistant principal at SWBA, and being the principal of this wonderful school is a great honor for me and my family.
I take great pleasure in serving the SWBA community as this school provides educational excellence to about 250 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. As your principal, I look forward to the opportunity to work with you together to provide your child with an outstanding educational experience.
I am fortunate to have a highly qualified, dynamic, and dedicated teaching staff that are well versed in their fields, yet are always open to new challenges and innovative ideas. As we embark on this new journey, together and throughout our commitment to your child, we will make 2012-2013 school year a special year of growth, a year of excellence and a rewarding, productive, and enjoyable experience for everyone. As always, we are committed to our students’ academic achievement and social readiness, and our students will continue to grow and learn in an academic environment that is safe, challenging, caring, and positive. We always establish high expectations for our students and support them in reaching high academic standards in all subject areas. We will continue to empower them to learn, lead, and succeed.
I believe the atmosphere at SWBA sets it apart from other schools. We are a family more than a school. This year, we will make our parent communication even better. Our SWBA Connect online progress monitoring system will provide more detailed information to parents regarding their child’s achievement level, and we will continue to use benchmark assessments to determine the needs of your children. Our home visit program will also continue this year. Home visits enable us to build rapport and strong positive relationships with our parents and students, based on mutual respect and understanding.
In this short letter it is impossible for me to tell you about all of the challenging academic programs, academic teams, clubs, and activities that we offer at SWBA. Therefore, I encourage you to continue to use SWBA Connect and follow our weekly newsletters and website, as well as keep in touch with school administrators and teachers.
Although our teachers will continue to establish communication with you, I would like to encourage all parents to actively participate in their child’s education; to join our parent-teacher meetings; to become part of the Parent Volunteer Organization; and to volunteer at our school.
Students! Please take full advantage of all the academic opportunities and social activities offered at our school so you can have a fruitful experience during your stay at SWBA. Please join academic teams, clubs, tutoring sessions and our new College Mentorship Program to prepare for future and for better career opportunities in the future.
