We enjoyed an informative trolley ride thru out historic St.Augustine, Florida. Founded in 1565, St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European established city, and the oldest port, in the continental United States. St. Augustine lies in a region of Florida known as The First Coast, which extends from Amelia Island in the north, south to Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Palm Coast. Downtown, on the cobblestone road, St. George Street offered the SWBA students excellent shopping. We toured the area where Ponce de Leon discovered the Fountain of Youth and when we drank from the fountain of youth, we discovered that it wasn’t the sweet water that we read about in our history books. The highlight of our excursion seemed to be Ripley’s Believe it or Not where we ended the day with shock and awe at all of the exhibits and special effects.
