Our 1st Annual Math Stars Contest was held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 with great success. We had over 250 people in attendance, including parents and 80 contestants.

Fourth and fifth grade student from public, charter, and private schools in the Alachua County sweated for 45 minutes to solve challenging math problems in order to win a laptop. All participants were recognized and presented with certificates for participation. First place prize for the math contest was a Laptop computer, second place prize was an IPod Nano, and the third place prize was an Mp3 Player. The teachers of the winners will also be awarded with gift certificates, valued at $100, $75, and $50 for the first, second, and third places respectively.

Yuanqi Cai was the first place winner in the contest. Three students, Timothy Fogleman, Om Sakhalkar, and Trevor Storey tied for second place. After a lottery among the three students, Timothy Fogleman came in second, and Trevor Storey became the third place winner.

Congratulations to all winning students and all the others who answered quite a few questions right. We would also like to thank everyone for making this a very successful event.
