Our school would like to congratulate those who participated in SWBA's first Lego League competition. Not only was this an exciting experience for our students, but it is the first competing team in Alachua County! Our students are proudly participating in something that is a first for Alachua County students and we hope that it is the beginning of a great tradition.
On January 9th, our participants went to Ocala as Sweetwater’s FIRST Lego League Team. Our team consisted of Sahil Patel, Quennon Ewing, Jose Cuevas, Nate Selznick and Zephrin Green. Mr. Cinar and I coached the team. Our accountant, Mr. Cevik, and our parents, Mr. Cuevas, Mr. DiPietro and Ms. Johnson, were there to support us.
There were four separate areas of judging: Robot Design, Robot Performance, and Project Presentation and Teamwork.
Technical score was the 5th highest of the 19 teams. Teamwork score was the 8th highest of the 19 teams. Project presentation was the 12th highest of the 19 teams.
In the robot performance we got the third highest scores two times. I think we had a good experience and our team did a good job. I am sure we will do better next year. I would like to thank our administration, families, students and coaches.
PS: The topic of the project for the next year is food and water safety.
